Product Description

Spanish silver one Reale minted in Mexico City, Mexico circa 1536-1555 during the reign of Carolus & Johanna.

Obverse: Crowned Pillars of Hercules over waves; legend surrounding.
Reverse: Crowned shield coat of arms; legend surrounding.

Custom set in an 14k yellow gold bezel pendant, measuring approximately 1 1/2 inch high from the top of the bail to the bottom of the bezel, 1 1/4 inch across.

Johanna was the daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella, Carolus was elected Holy Roman Emperor in 1520. His inheritance of Spain and the Indies from his mother, and the Austrian Empire from his father made Carolus the most powerful sovereign in Europe.
