Kingdom of Thrace - Lysimachos silver Tetradrachm minted circa 323-281 BC.

Obverse: Diademed head of Alexander the Great wearing the Horn of Ammon.
Reverse: Athena seated, holding Nike, legends at left and right.


Lysimachos was a bodyguard for Alexander the Great. After Alexander's death he obtained the government of Thrace. He took the title of King in 305 BC and ruled until 281 BC when, at the age of 80, he was killed in battle.
